About the artist
Ploenchan Vinyaratn (Mook) is a Thai contemporary artist whose large-scale textile installations transform discarded materials into urgent commentary on environmental crisis and cultural identity. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, London, she spent her early career as design director for the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, a royal initiative in northern Thailand, where she developed expertise in traditional textile techniques while working closely with hill tribe artisans.
Through her studio practice, Vinyaratn has pioneered a zero-waste approach that repurposes industrial remnants, consumer waste, and surplus textiles into monumental works exploring ecological fragility and species endangerment. Her installations have been exhibited internationally across Asia and the United States, with permanent works in major Thai cultural institutions and commissions for global luxury brands.
Her practice bridges traditional Thai craftsmanship with contemporary environmental concerns, positioning textile art within urgent global conversations about sustainability and cultural preservation while challenging conventional boundaries between craft and fine art.
